So Dang Mad!!
http://www.coldwellbanker.com/servlet/PropertyListing?action=detail&ComColdwellbankerDataProperty_id=11634637&page=property
They are selling it for $155,000. So if you're looking for an investment thing, here it is. I personally wouldn't pay more that $120,000 for this house. It needs a lot of work, in my opinion. And if I bought the dang thing, I 'd kick the renter out and knock down walls to make it one house and not a duplex. But, alas, that ain't happening. Our credit is shot and right now we just can't swing it. So we are stuck in limbo, kinda. I'll keep paying the rent like always and hope it takes a year to sell.
I WILL have to spit shine the whole dang house though. Now I HAVE to turn my house into a showcase house. Something I absolutely LOATHE! My house has always been lived in...since the second kid anyway. I clean it, they mess it. So I gave up the spit shine spotless dream long ago. It was too stressful and I don't need extra stress. And I don't feel comfy in a showcase house. Never have. Probably the trauma of babysitting for my meticulous aunt one summer.
UGH! Frustration sets in. Time to FLY LADY it. 45 minutes of cleaning...5 minute break. Room by room. Declutter galore. Purge-Mania!
Then I'm rewarding myself by having a sale. Everything is going. I have a garage full of stuff...that's not needed or being used. Time to get back to the basics. Sentimental stuff we are keeping. Everything else goes. Lynn (my SIL) will get a dumpster. I'll tell her to have it there next weekend and we will begin. After I get the house in order first. I will chart this plan today at work. Put it on paper and stay on schedule and task. I'll price things as I unpack them. Then that part is done. We'll just have to set it all up. I need massive tables though, I got a lot of junk. I'm not sure about the scrappy stuff though. Man, I hate to part with ANY of that!
Lord, give me strength please! The next month will be tough, but like the Little Engine That Could...I think I can, I think I can....I KNOW I CAN!
And....Happy Friday to you!

Happy Thursday!
And I gotta mail the rent today. I'll do that on my way to drop off the girls this morning. Then I won't have to mail anything else this morning.
I should go open up that savings account too.
Then after work, I have to come home and drop the girls off with Erik and meet Tom in Waseca to pick up a table and chairs for my grandma for $75. She'll reimburse us, of course. It's better than the price tag of a new one at KMart for $129.00!
Then I think we'll stop at Wal-Mart and get a few groceries while we're there. Without kids..and my list is short, so it won't take long at all.
I think I'll make a list too, of what I gotta do this weekend. Looks like we are having company on the 4th and I gotta clean the house and only have Sunday to do it! That means more purging. I've decided that I'm going to have a sale sometime this summer yet. And I have a garage full of crap that we don't need or use..so GO it must!

Let the Countdown begin!
This was taken July 2006.
I'll try to take an updated one this afternoon after work...if I remember.
Accomplishments
Tom actually read some of the Debt Proof Living book yesterday. I'm actually impressed.
I went to 2 more banks yesterday. And after comparing rates, I made my decision. Whoda thunk that interest rates would vary that much.
So today, I will open my account up. Baby steps, I say. It will all come together.
I'm almost finished with Mary Hunt's The Complete Cheapskate. It pretty much reiterates what she says in the Debt Proof Living book. I'll be starting Live Your Life For Half Price today as well. The Boss will be gone this afternoon and all of tomorrow, so I'll have time to read if he doesn't give me a list of crap to do. And work on my Weekly Spending Plan. And the Rapid Debt Repayment Plan too. Thanks again Torm, for turning me on to this. I'll be preachin' about it more to the family once I get it all together.
And I decided that I could save more monies by reinstating my Mary Kay Consultant status. I'll save 50% on my product. The other 50% will go into one of my funds. I haven't quite decided yet which one. That'll come though. So mom, if you read this, put your order in...and tell Tess to do the same. She could really use the help...lol!
Happy Hump Day. Have a great day.

Things to do this week
Goal #1: Open a savings account and start my Contingency Fund.
Goal #2: Continue on with my weekly spending plan.
Goal #3: Convert the weekly plan into the monthly one.
Goal #4: Convert Tom to keep track of his daily spending, if any. And get him to read the book.
Once I achieve those, I can set new ones. Happy Tuesday!

Twenty-Five Cents
And..I finished my book. Now to put it all into motion and come up with a plan. While I come up with a plan, I'll be making um letting Tom read the book. Let's hope he's as inspired as I am.
In other news...Last night Erik made cookies. Pretty much by himself. For being 12, he didn't do too bad either. Oatmeal Raisin Chocolate Chip...pretty nummy!! I was so tired last night though, I didn't even get one fresh outta the oven! Sad thing is...he copied the recipe at the library yesterday! Only kid I know that gets a recipe at the library out of a Wrestling Magazine!!
And on today's agenda....
2 perms and a haircut
Candle delivery
Purging
Dishes
Laundry
Post Office run
and going to different banks to check out interest rates.
Then if there's time in my busy day, a self inflicted pedicure. My nails need polishing again. Should I stick with blue or go a different color? That's the dilemma there.
Tom's working today, so it will be me and the 4 kids on that adventure!
Happy Saturday...Have a great day!

3 a.m.
What was I thinking you ask?
~I was thinking about the Class of 1987's 20 year Reunion this weekend...and how I'd like to crash it. Neal Fox is still in my heart. Some people touch your heartstrings and leave an impression...he was one of those people.
~I was thinking about Torm...and her Debt Proof Living plan. And how I must try to finish this book...and go to the library and pick up the other one on hold. And I'm excited about this plan. If she can do it, we can do it. She has 4 kids too...so that sold me..lol. She's an inspiration all the way around, even for a Finlander! Love ya Tormado!
~I was thinking I better get on the poker table. I play daily..every morning. It's my addiction and my mommy time. Me, Table 13, and a cup of coffee.
~I was thinking I better check the Weatherbug. I heard it beeping. Rice County (Faribault) was under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning. An hour later, now we (LeSeuer County) are. And The Thunder Rolls...and the lightning strikes. Gotta love Garth Brooks.
So you see now why I couldn't just turn off my brain and fall back to sleep. SO I got up, made coffee and got the dishes soaking in the sink. I'll do them up quick around 5...that way the water will be just the right temp. I rather enjoy doing the dishes in the morning. Gives me a feeling that I actually accomplished something during the day. And it only takes me 10 minutes to get them done.
And the girls were awakened by the storm. All 3 of them. Mo was scared, so I told her to climb in bed with Tom. She did. The other 2 headed back upstairs to their prospective sleeping spots. Until now. Gabby just climbed into my bed too. Good thing Tom couldn't sleep and headed to the shower early. Yep, it's gonna be a long day for all involved here. I can see bedtime will be early tonight. And on that note...Have a great Thursday!

Weekly Rundown
Wednesday...just work for me and Tom. The girls go to Camp Grandma's and Erik will go to school, then home. I think I'll have to dream up a crock pot dish for supper though. I need to start planning my meals for the week. I have to keep reminding myself...baby steps...teeny tiny ones even.
Thursday...same as Wednesday minus the crock pot meal.
Friday...all the kids go to Camp Grandma's. She will take them to the Library for the kid's program. And it's payday. So I will check into a family pass at the community center for the swimming pool. Then she can take them there too. They kinda get bored at Grandma's house...there's not a whole lot for them to do there. So I need to get creative and put together a kit for Grandma's house so they don't get so bored.
Saturday...clean house day. I gotta finish up the purging in the living room. I haven't been home to get it done that past few weekends. And then rest and read my book.
Sunday...Tom's company picnic. Not sure that I'll bring the camera..but maybe. I better...you never know when Mo will be hanging upside down on the monkey bars!
So that's it for now...have a great day!

Some Pictures
Love how I captured Mo's 'tails in motion!
And the Library...is at the far end of our Downtown...behind the tree that's smack dab in the middle...which is about 6 blocks long! I was standing on block 5 I believe...love my ZOOM!
A great time was had by all, and the kid made a haulin' in candy and Freezies! We got home at about 9 p.m....just in time for the rain to hit!
And these are all the medallions and buttons from past Heritage Days on display at Chappuis Jewlers. The only one missing is 1999 I believe. Now if only I can get the reflection out of that picture...it'd be perfect!
Have a great Monday!

Rain
I hope it quits before noon. Although we are having Natalea's birthday party at my mom's house so it should be ok. The kidlins can play in the basement. We are getting a Dairy Queen cake...so in order for it NOT to melt on the way home, we opted for grandma's house.
After that we'll be heading to Annie Lynn's house...a.k.a Auntie Lynn...a.k.a Tom's sister...for supper. The kids call her Annie Lynn..and even spell it as such. I told her I was gonna change her name to that..lol.
Then it's off to downtown Faribault for the Heritage Days Parade. I hope that Megan is dancing in it..for the Faribault Emeralds Danceline. I promise to take lots of pics! Hopefully it will be huge...they are celebrating 25 years of this festival. It's hard to believe that we've been in the area that long as well. But that's another post.
And now for some good news....
I got my first wedding photography gig! It's in April..for Bruce and Irene...and I'm excited, yet nervous! I have a few months to learn my camera...and I'll be watching for tips and tricks on the boards. Bruce said only about 12 pictures...but we all know I'll take wayyy more than that! I told him to get me a list of poses...we'd do them first...then anything else is extra. And I'm not charging anything, but if they want to make a donation, I'll humbly accept. I better go ask for some advice...I know a great group of girls that are experienced in this at ScrapSupply!
Have a happy Saturday...and get out and do something fun today!

"Well we all just wanna be big rockstars, live in hilltop houses driving 15 cars"

They make my afternoons go by so fast some days...and my ride home seem so peaceful and easy! Thanks to them for that...and make sure to catch them Monday-Friday from 2-7 p.m.!

Library Card
I went to the Faribault Library on Monday. I was on a mission to obtain the Debt Proof Living book. It wasn't on the shelf so I had to order it from another library. When I went to use my library card though, it wasn't in the system. It was that old. Tells you how much I go to the library. So I had to get a new card. So the lady asked me for my driver's license and proof of address. When she sees that I live in Waterville, that's when she tells me I have to get a card there first. THEN I can come back and get a card in Faribault. Thanks to 9/11, you now have to have an ID at the library. Sad stuff there, I tell ya!
Anywho, the lady at the library ordered the book for me in her name. Now today, I need to go there and get my card and switch it to my name. What a fiasco I tell ya....but I REALLY want to check this book out...since it comes so HIGHLY recommended by Tormado....Thanks Torm!
Hopefully after reading it, we can get back on our feets again!
And since the older 2 kidlins are going to Valleyfair today, the younger 2 are going to the library with Grandma. I'm so blessed that my kids like to read...and even Erik is reading...of course there's a free pizza involved so he's more motivated now!! Whatever works for him I guess...it can only make him a better reader!!
Oh and Happy Anniversary to my boss and his wife, Desta! They're going out to supper and to a Twins game...have fun!
And Happy Thursday to the rest of you...have a great day!

Happy Birthday Natalea!
It was kinda spur of the moment. I had an Epiphany at work and decided we'd go out for her birthday instead of me cooking supper on this hot awful day! I guess we'll have hot pork sandwiches tomorrow night for supper instead!
On that note...Erik and Natalea get to go to Valleyfair tomorrow for being a School Safety Patrol. I think they'll have fun...at least I hope so anyway! I hope I don't get a phone call at work..."Come get your kid!"
Gabby and Mo get to go to the library with Grandma...they have a Go Bananas program there...check out your local library for some summer fun!
Well...I'm off to bed...goodnight, sweet dreams and I love ya!

Busy
Last night they kicked off the Waterville Bullhead Days with the Queen's Pageant. Tonight I think we will walk over to the carnival on Main Street and at least check it out. After supper of course. I'm not spending anymore money than I have to. The kids might get to go on one ride. Of course I will be tired after work...I'll be like the Little Engine That Could....I think I can...I think I can.
Last weekend they had all the carnival rides parked across the street at the school parking lot. I was scared that it was going to be right there! All I could think about was the noise and the litter in my yard....ugh! I'm so happy that it's not in my front yard!
Tomorrow...is Grandma's birthday party! It's at Keystone...from 1-5. We'll go for probably the whole thing and I'll take pictures of everyone. My mom invited her cousins...so it should be a hoot! A bunch of Iowegians with sick senses of humor for sure! Too much fun almost!
I think I'll designate Sunday as "Clean the house Day" and try to tackle another project. This time it will be the entertainment center. I need to dust and organize it. Usually I have a candle shrine on it...not sure though if I will do that this time. I still have dolphin knick knacks to unpack. Maybe I will put all my snowglobes up there...I dunno yet. More purging for sure. I just don't have the space I used to have...and there's wayyyy to much stuff in this tiny house!
After that...then it's my scrap stuff...if there's time. That's an all day project in itself. I really need to go through my patterned papers though. I have tons that I probably will never use. I think I will write down and sketch out my ideas for my papers too...then I can go back and do the layouts later. Ahh...the fun of it! Then maybe next weekend I can scrap...oh wait...I have a birthday party next weekend too! Maybe I need to take a vacation day soon. I only have 5 so I don't want to burn them up so early in the year! I'll have to check on that one. Which reminds me...I need to order a cake!
Have a great Friday...and like Torm says...Be Good!

Anniversary
I have a U-shaped desk. Actually 2 desks in a U shape. The one on the right is my computer desk. The one on the left is where my typewriter and closed out file cards are. The main desk is where my calendar and office supplies are. And sometimes on a nice day, I like to stare out the window behind me! And when I make copies, I like to stand there and look out that window..makes the copying so much easier and less tedious!
Wednesday was full of emotion. You see, in 1979 my dad and his bandmate, Chill Hillman made a couple of 45 demo records at Sound 80 Recording Studio. A couple months ago I contacted a recording studio out of Minneapolis to see if they could put those 45's onto a CD for me. I figured I'd pay the money to preserve that piece of history. Well I didn't hear anything until the guy called me back on Sunday night. I talked with my mom and she said that we might as well get ALL of his recordings together and do them all at once. Great idea mom. According to my mom, my dad's cousin George has a record from way before I was born. And my Grandpa taped a performance at the Cedar Inn in Owatonna when I was a baby. Anywho, for $75 per hour of studio time, I can have it done. I just need to schedule it in and get the money and recordings together.
Then...I started thinking about Copyright Laws. Uh oh...now what do I do? Well I find out that if you OWN it and you're not distributing for purpose of money, then it's still legal. And since both bandmates are dead, the surviving heirs have ownership. Then I got to thinking again. What if the drummer of the band is on that record? I have to contact him. So now I'm on a mission to find and contact him. And when I googled his name I found this picture:
Yep, that's him. Our pal Hal. Drummer extraordinaire. So on a mission I go. Lucky for me, I'm a great detective and can find people of the past rather easily.
That brings us to today, Thursday. Happy Birthday Grandpa. He would have been 92 I believe. Today is also his death anniversary. He was born and died on the same exact day. How cool is that. Don't tell the rest of the family, but I thought it was pretty awesome. And surely something you don't see everyday. Very cool.
Now that the week is caught up, I'll try to post more tomorrow so I don't get so behind. Sorry for the windy post, but I sure had a lot to say!
Happy Thursday to you!

Purge Day
Oh and I sent the boys in with my microwave to Grandma's. I am switching with her because the cubby for the microwave is small...and her microwave is too big. Hopefully mine will work for her. Can you believe that she doesn't have any drawers? Unbelievable I tell you! I suppose they figure she will be eating downstairs instead of in her own apartment. She'll have to purge alot of her stuff for the kitchen. She already did the pots and pans....way mucho!! Hence the inspiration to purge today!
Dishes have to get done today too. I didn't have any to do yesterday cause we weren't home all day Friday! And we only ate supper here last night so I only have about 10 minutes' worth to do! Love that feeling...and seriously don't mind doing dishes so early in the mornings now.
And I gotta get laundry folded...and caught up. That's the usual weekend chore. Then the kids can get it put away.
And I need to hang some pictures. The family ones above my computer desk and some in the bathroom. We have been here 6 months now...so I gotta get that done. I think after I clean my desk off, I will hang my embellishment storage on the wall too. I'll have to move my one shelf over a bit, but that's ok. Then I can make more desk space...for the future piles...lol.
And I gotta take some pics of the breadbox I got from Grandma. So I can post it here and then tell the story behind it. Then I won't forget when I get old. And Grandpa's dresser. And the Cuckoo clock. I'll set a deadline of next Sunday for all of that.
Have a great Sunday!
Saturday, June 2, 2007
{Finally}
After that we went over to my mom's for some KFC. Everyone was hungry...they hadn't eaten all day. Silly kids...gotta get some fuel in that tank if you're gonna keep it running!
Now the fun part. My girls and I are going to pick grandma up at my mom's this morning and then going to help her unpack it all. I must remember to bring my camera to take pictures of the before and after. As well as my favorite pieces of Grandma's furniture. There's just something cool about Grandpa's dresser. You'll see.
Should be a fun time anyway. A teaching moment at that. I can teach the girls about some of the things that are in the family history. And Grandma can tell the stories behind each piece of furniture or knick knack. That's just plain COOL.
Oh and I can't forget to set out the scrapbooks for my baby cousin. They are studying WWII in her class and she wanted to bring the ration tickets that Grandma has to show the class. Very Cool! She's 12...same age as Erik...they are 6 or 7 days apart actually...with Jaimee` being the oldest...but Erik is the biggest!
Then after Erik and Tom get done with their Boy Scout things, they have to go back to Grandma's old apartment and grab her drapes and the ceiling fan. Hopefully they'll be able too. I don't know though. I'll have my mom call and make sure before we waste the gas to get there. And they'll have to use mom's car. I need tires on mine...I can see the radial belts starting to show. I'll be surprised if I make it into town for a couple of new tires this morning.
Anywho, is it Sunday yet?? I can't wait to sleep in a lil bit (yeah, right!) and just relax. I'm looking forward to that!
Happy Saturday!

Finally Friday!!
Things to do today....
Wake kids up and drop Erik off at my sister's. He's gonna go down and help Grandma move with my sister. Then drop the girls off at my mom's. Camp Grandma starts today!! The kids have to go to Grandma's on Wednesday-Friday this summer. Tom is off on Mondays and Tuesdays...good stuff I tell ya!
Tom will get done with work at 2 p.m. today. It's the Morristown Dam Days festival. Erik and the rest of the Boy Scouts are selling pop and water. The Parade starts at 7 p.m. It's a 200+ unit parade. And they are predicting rain. We'll see...if it rains, we won't go.
Then tomorrow...Tom and Erik have to go pick up garbage on the streets of Morristown. Each scout gets $10/day if they help pick up the mess from the festival. I'll be cleaning house and doing laundry...
And.....
It's ScrapSupply's Birthday!! Happy Birthday ScrapSupply! There will be festivities that begin at 1 p.m. central time...so come on over!
Sunday...a day for rest I think. And more laundry and cleaning.
I picked up the BH&G issue on Organizing...very inspirational. It breaks it down by month. So you work on a different room each month. Very do-able and not so overwhelming either. It reminded me of Torm's Closet Project...see her link to the left for that!
I think I'll start my closet tomorrow.
Have a great weekend ya'll!!
